Hi, I am looking for an apartment in the area and need some info. I am still not sure of the good and bad areas yet. Does anyone know if Radcliffe House in downtown Charleston is in a good or bad neighborhood. The address is 61 Vanderhorst St. and it is about 1 block from Roper Hospital and very near to MUSC. The rent if very reasonable which makes me nervous. lol. Effeciency apt is only $625. I am scared maybe the complex is all students or that it is in a bad 'hood. Any info is appreciated! THANKS

This is a great neigborhood, but the building is the worst on the block. The rooms have little ventilation, it has a scary little elevator and when I lived there, there was an issue with the (common) water heater where sometimes you would get no hot water. That said, it is a steal for the location and they have off street parking. I would suggest a second floor unit so you don;t have to ride the elevator. The corner units are the best. It is worth a look if you want a no-frills place to crash near bars and restaurants.
