I disagree. I use that route quite a bit because many times it's easier than dealing with nightmares on 526 or 17 depending on if I'm going to N. Charleston or Mt P. The Northbridge way is fine at 6 am, when school's out again at 6 am maybe edging into 7 am as long as it's summer. Beyond that, you're looking at pretty heavy traffic. At 4:30-6 pm, it's slow as hell bumper to bumper like everywhere else with some spots slightly better.

I'll say this, I do not regret at all moving from Mt P because of what it got me with country living. But I thought Mt P traffic was bad until I had to drive through West Ashley. Seriously, this traffic over here is next level awful. I'm just glad I don't have to do it everyday or I would move.

I've heard no explanation yet, of how they get from DI late in the afternoon to the Sam Ritt. Taking 526 back to WA is a roll-of-the-dice at drive times. Are you talking about taking 526 all the way to the end ??

Are you getting off 526 and taking 26 back towards Cosgrove ?? That 526 / 26 shuffle may be the worst Interchange in South Carolina....there's an accident almost every day at that spot.

Speaking strictly for myself -- it would be worth the extra rent it would cost to stay on the DI side of things.

526 to i26, is not bad, compared to 526 to Mt Pleasant or 526 to Ashley Phosphate. Of course the interchange at 526 and i26 is terrible, but when you compare commute times with other areas, going against the grain is typically a better commute. I live off of hwy 61. Timed properly I can be in Mt Pleasant in 20 minutes, timed poorly and it can be an hour an 15 minutes...

526 to 26 is not bad? From 4-6 PM on workdays it’s a parking lot from Clements Ferry to 26.

526 to Mt Pleasant is going against the traffic so it's certainly doable. 526 to I26 is gridlock at 5pm.

Good point by someone if the OP decides on DI for ease of commute (no commute), Park Circle is an easy trip for diversity as is downtown Charleston.
