It looks like Charleston lost British. I know it was suspended, but this makes it sound more permanent, at least for now. Huge blow and huge shame. Without the virus/travel restrictions it seems would've been successful. Maybe British will give CHS another shot in a few years once the industry is back on full footing. Damn that sucks.

This article says they are postponing it through at least summer 2021. It sounds more open-ended than the article that says it’s permanent.

True confessions: July made five years I have lived in Charleston, but I have never seen the airport. I might ride out there to size it up since the new parking garage opened.

Now may not be the best time, unless you're there for a test...

For now I was just thinking about driving around and checking it out more from a parameter. The landscaping should be nice.

Great news: Breeze Airways is coming to Charleston. Looks like Charleston will become a hub/focus city along with Tampa, New Orleans, and Norfok. From Charleston, routes will be:

Hartford, CT (starting May 27);
Tampa, FL (May 27);
Louisville, KY (May 28);
Norfolk, VA (June 10);
Akron/Canton, OH (July 8);
Columbus, OH (July 8);
New Orleans, LA (July 8);
Pittsburgh, PA (July 8);
Richmond, VA (July 8);
Huntsville, AL (July 15); and
Providence, RI (July 22).

This opens up Charleston to Louisiana, Rhode Island, not-DC Virginia, Alabama, and Connecticut. Also gives Charleston another option for Tampa, Louisville, Pittsburgh. Huge news and big, big get for Charleston.

For Charleston to just become a focus city, im surprised at the lack of hoorah here. This is a big deal for CHS. And if Breeze is successful - once their orders of more planes come in, CHS could see that destination list grow.

But 11 routes to start off with, thats incredible.

United making a big presence as well. 5 new routes about to start. If youre from Pittsburgh, youre in luck. From 0 options to 3.

From CHS you can fly to 17 of the top 20 airports. Just missing San Fran, San Diego, and Vegas.
