.

Depends on the year. I've surfed Folly in Feb. without a wetsuit. On the other hand, in Jan, 1980, it was 15F and my uncle's kiwi crop was ruined.

On this subject; where is the best place to stay if you wish to visit in the Charleston area or any other State; between December + New Years Day? I have my kids ages;
(20 gal + 27 guy) wanting us to take a family vacation somewhere during this period? But we in our mid 40's don't know where the best place would be during that time frame?

Folly will be relatively dead in winter; that can be good or bad depending upon personal preference.

I would stay downtown during that time. If you celebrate Christmas, there are many programs going on during the month of Dec. and downtown will be decorated.

I personally love Folly Beach but I'm partial to it since I used to work out there.

One thing to keep in mind when checking out the vacation rentals is find out if they supply sheets or not. The last I knew, Fred Holland does not provide them.

Also, if you want oceanfront, you aren't likely to find a heated pool because there simply isn't enough room/feasible to have pools at all that close to the oceanfront. You'll probably find them about a block or two off the beach.

How many bedrooms were you looking to rent? There is one home out there, I believe its 509 E. Arctic (it's been a while lol) that has 5 bedrooms, all of which are oceanfront. The owner is actually Edwin S. Taylor, the man the pier was named after. Beautiful home inside and out. The 3rd level is actually a game room type deal with darts, pool and several other things. I don't know if he's renting it out during the winter though. Some owners are particular about when people rent their properties.

There are some VERY lovely places out there on the beach though and if you have a particular home in mind, let me know which it might be and I'll let you know if I've been in it or not. The properties can change hands pretty frequently though so no promises!

1581 E. Ashley was also a VERY nice home. 5 bedrooms as well I believe. The last I heard it was for sale so who knows if that's still up for a vacation rental.

Let me know if you need help!

Wow! THank you soooo much for the helpful info! I will see if I can find these listed on-line. My girlfriends and I want to make a decision by the first of September. I'll let you know the one/ones we have narrowed it down to to see if you have input.

Thanks again and I hope I can return the favor someday.
