Large increase for Hanahan. However, it is important to look at the percentage of students that took the test. According to the state report only 26% of the seniors took the test at Hanahan as opposed to 80% at Wando HS, 40% at Fort Dorchester and 49% at Summerville.

Yeah, that's certainly a better indicator of the school's performance than the actual test results, it's almost no contest.

I have a stupid question. Is Wando where kids in Mt. Pleasant go? If so, their scores don't look noticably better than James Island's. I thought Mt Pleasant was supposed to have the "best" schools.

Wando is the High School in Mt. Pleasant, yes. I'd have to compare number of students actually taking the SAT's in both areas. I think Joe indicated that over 80% of students in Wando were tested and included in the average.

Yes that is the only public high school in Mt P. As for scores, Stratford scored higher than JI, S'Ville and Ft D but people on here say it's not a good school. Hmmmm

For percentages that took the test. Many colleges will accept either the SAT scores or ACT scores. The colleges my daughter applied to you could pick which one you wanted to take. She only wanted to take the ACT but I convinced her to take the SAT as well. She actually scored just under what the kids at Academic Magnet scored. Many of her classmates only took the ACT.

James Island High School is excellent. This is reflected in their SAT score of 1513 in comparison to Wando's score of 1569. However, only 57% of the students took the test, which I think would result in a higher score than would otherwise be obtained if a larger number of students took the test. Higher than Fort Dorchester and Summerville, but substantially lower than the 80% who took the test at Wando.
