Normandy Farms is also a great bakery but it is 95% breads- they are in the Windemere Shopping center in West Ashley (about 2 stop lights from downtown.)
Also Fuel on Rutledge Ave is supposed to be Cuban. I'm not sure how authentic it is. Haven't been there since late summer so I'll hope its still open.
HAHAHA.. good cuban food, HAHAHA, In Charleston, my wife and I have been to every restorant in Charleston that isn't Mexican when it comes to Latin food (I'm from Hondruas and shes for PR) anyways, Vickerys is said to be cuban, but its not.. they do put Plantans with your meal which is nice, rice and beans, nice, eh.. we had better cuban in Gatlinsburg, TN.. that place on james Island, if you have ever had real cuban food you will hate that place and the service is crappy. are you guys in the Navy? I'm in the Air Force, thats why I ask, not to many air bases that far south that would relocate to Charleston.. that I know of.
Well if it makes anyone feel any better I made cuban sandwhiches this weekend with real roast pork (pernil) and ham and swiss and off course home made cuban loaf! AY DIOS MIO, it was good. Recipe available for any who want it.
