Did homes on James Island on the Stono River get flooded during Ian? I can't find much info on-line. Thanks.

I've not heard of flooding along the Stono but it might be hard to find such info unless you were part of a neighborhood FB or Nextdoor page. I know of no place it is available consistently.

Flooding is also often house specific. A single house can flood in a neighborhood while the others remain unscathed.

I know that the storm hitting north of town changed the wind flow and surge. High tide at our house was actually lower than the day prior.

Interesting... The lake behind my house on James Island is tidal fed and came up a third of the way into my yard. Higher than I've seen it before in the year+ that I've lived here. I think we got more inches of rain at the beginning of Sept than we did with Ian.

Main thing with Ian would have been storm surge, even if it wasn't high that means the water isn't flowing out

I think it was Matthew that had King tide + north east zone storm surge.

I thought that too but a friend sent me this which makes me wonder if I didn't see the heaviest of the rain at my house on James Island.

That was substantiated by other weather sources. The wind in the northwest quadrant was coming from the northeast. You guys got the heaviest rain. It also stopped the surge from entering the harbor.

Up near Georgetown, the northeast quadrant of the storm was pulling water into the coast. Which is why their storm surge was worse.
