Looking to relocate to mount pleasant but we are worried about the cost of home owners insurance. We have heard that is is even very hard to get. Is there any parts of mount pleasant not in the hurricane belt?

I moved about an hour north of Mt P right along the coast and was stunned when my first quote for insurance was $7000 a year. That was a prohibitive amount and thought I may be making a mistake. But after shopping around I found a policy for about $3000 a year for a 3800sqft house. It is still more than what I was paying up in NY but I am still saving alot in taxes.

Shop around, it is available and the prices vary tremendously, especially when you take higher deductibles.

Also, Try to stay in a low flood zone. Flood Insurance can cost between $250-$6000 += a year.
