This is a good sign considering the density of Charleston's office buildings to begin with. I don't have any numbers to reference but I wish Huntington would take after Charleston in that regard. A lot of our downtown office spaces and/or downtown apartments/lofts seem quite empty.

This building is right by the Town Center, right?

Downtown Charleston needs a new 30 story impressive office tower to give it the "appearance" of a large, up-and-coming city. Problem is, it will never happen because the building would end up half empty, and the developers bankrupt - oh well, nice to dream. But on second thought, one possible way it might work is to create half of it office space, but the other half luxury condos - put a swimming pool on the 25th floor. It's what they did with the PNC Tower in Raleigh - the condos sold instantly.

No, Charleston is not Raleigh, but do I think Charleston could sell 15 stories of luxury condo's downtown? Absolutely. Unlike Morgantown where there's just a few Charleston-enabled wealthy WVU administrators/coaches living at Cheat Lake, Charleston has a LOT of money. Do I think the builder of at 30 story tower could lease the bottom 15 stories? From what I have read in the Chas newspapers, proably so. Might this create some vacancies elsewhere? Maybe, but as the flagship and capital city of WV, I think this would be temporary, and the returns from having a super-impressive downtown (for WV) would draw dividens as well.

Charleston needs to keep its buildings low enough that they don't present a problem or target for planes getting in or out of Yeager Airport, too.

Charleston has several buildings in the vicinity of 20 stories. Why would a 30 story building suddenly make the city "appear" to be "up-and-coming" when the Kanawha Valley Building, Union Building, Chase Tower, Commerce Square, BB&T and Laidley Tower, and a few others don't?

They put little red blinky lights on them. The Capital building has them, as well as the Marriott.

Also, I would think that a pilot would know the difference between a runway and a building.
