Being perfectly honest - I never realized that Kanawha City was actually part of Charleston until a few years ago.

LOL you aren't the only one. It is most certainly different than the rest of the city. If you don't mind me asking, what caused you to think that it was not part of the city, and what did you think it was (own town, unincorporated)?

I thought it was its own town considering the name Kanawha City. I had been through many times, too, but I guess I never realized. It was mostly due to the geography of the area. It's not only separated from downtown Charleston by the river, connected only by the two large bridges (which, honestly seem more like an impediment to connection with regards to pedestrian/non-motorized traffic flow), but the bridges connect to a relatively sparse area. When you look on a map, the area across from Kanawha City is rugged and not developed, the same with downtown Charleston. There just never seemed to be any physical continuity. That's another reason why I long for a bridge (vehicular with pedestrian elements or simply pedestrian) connecting UC to the East End.

Thai food is very 90s. Now it is almost as common as Chinese. Korean was popular in the early 2000s and now is common. Mid 2000s it was Peruvian. Ethiopian is the new rage.

What does that have to do with this thread? I see you and your cohort are back to trolling.
