There must be something wrong with me as I never got the FestivAll event. I am going to say it - I hate multiculturalism. I like going to a festival that is all about one thing and not many. If I am headed to a Bluegrass festival I don't want to hear rap or opera. But I think my biggest problem with any of the new civic events is that Charleston had at one time a premiere and nationally recognized event - the Sternwheel Regatta. I have heard many reasons why it died but it is a shame that it died, regardless of why. I see all of these other events - going graphic here - like maggots feasting on an old corpse of what was.

I understand this festival and others that have comes since the Regatta died are a lot of fun to some people but they do not connect with me the way the Regatta did.

I couldn't agree with you more. Regatta was clearly the better event. Festiv-ALL is Charleston's version of trying to force people into being "multi-cultural/meltingpot" mentality. If anything the Vandalia Festival should be made into a week event and we can celebrate Appalachian culture instead of things that aren't present in WV.

I don't hate Festiv-All, but it's certainly not something that gets me excited during the summer!

Festivall is ok but it seems like it lacks a general focus or a main event. There's alot that goes on but I just don't seem to care enough to do anything with it. The Sportsfest even though it has multiple sports at least has a central location and focus. Nothing will ever be like what the Regatta was. Gone.
