We are considering purchasing a home in the Quail Pointe Subdivision which is in the Mink Shoals/Elk Hills area. You get to the neighborhood by driving up Crestwood Road. Does anybody know how well this road is maintained in the winter? As it is right outside Charleston's city limits, I'm assuming it would be cleared by the state. Appreciate any replies if anyone is familiar with this area.

Every time I have been in that area in the winter it was hit and miss. Later in the day or late the next day after a big snow it would be clear for FWD cars and 4x4s, but it was never cleared completely.

The main road is always clear but you have to get down to it and if your part of the street has sun exposure you will be ok. But, a lot of those roads are in nearly constant shadow during the winter and they don't clear completely. The way some of the roads are graded they also get drainage that freezes over night creating strips of ice running across the road.
