Drove through South Charleston and Jefferson Road a few times over the past two weeks. It still appears that there's still no new work being done on the road project. In fact, most of the cleared out land now has plenty of overgrown grass and scrubs present.

Well, after a quick Google search, here is why.

I'm going to let my cynical side come out for a minute. I'm willing to bet this isn't going to be the last delay we see for this project.

unfortunately of the many places I've lived work here takes 5 to 10 times longer than anywhere else I've lived. You will see a paving project of a few miles take months and rarely are people working on these projects on a regular basis. It's why this state is last in everything. We never get things finished.

I will say that the Barboursville and Nitro interstate projects are moving along at a quick pace. If and when they get the Jefferson Rd. Project underway, it might go by fairly quickly. They did a decently quick job with the new R-cut intersection and U-turn areas on Corridor G. Those will be opening up soon.

Back to the CTC,

I think Chick-fil-A should take over the former Qdoba or Five Guys spot. They already do curbside pickup, which requires them to cart the food from the 3rd level food court all the way to The Clendenin St. entrance to the mall. They would have room for indoor and outdoor seating, and would better attract foot traffic from the surrounding offices and government buildings. They’d even be able to deliver better from that location. That Chick-fil-A at the food court is doing well for business, and this would only help.

The Mall owners are trying their best to lower the bar of expectation. They do not seem to have a plan yet, and I figure that one won't materialize for a while.

Right Chriscross - Basically spent several minutes reading that article to conclude they don't really seem to have a real plan. Gotta give them credit for trying but this is going to be a big uphill battle! I swear when I was in for the 4th we were looking for a place to park (wasn't hard since the garage was 80% empty) but my wife commented that the garage was in poor shape and I agree- Might have been focusing on it more in wake of the Surfside Condo collapse but god what was CURA doing with all that garage money over the years?!

More people need to be asking that question.

So Panera Bread in the CTC is closing now. I'm honestly surprised they lasted as long as they did. They are on the wrong side of the mall for that type of restaurant. Maybe they'll consider a Kanawha City location or something. The Southridge one stays busy!

Both of those would do exceptionally well in KC.

Bring back Bennigans!! That place was always busy and had great happy hours. Of course the mall actually had stores in it then as well.
