Here is the job description:
Position: Part Time Merchandiser
Reports to: Area Supervisor/Territory Lead


GENERAL SUMMARY
The Merchandiser is responsible for obtaining schedule and order information for assigned accounts and calling on those accounts in a timely fashion.
Through the use of Best Practice techniques, the Merchandiser maintains the greeting card department by reordering merchandise, straightening merchandise on display, putting up or taking down seasonal merchandise, counting carryover and performing other tasks.
Has Access to the Internet to report time, confirm completion of in store activities, communicate with the Area Supervisor, Territory Lead and other Merchandisers and check assigned work schedules.

[SIZE=3]SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Plans schedule through obtaining order and scheduled hours from WHQ. Plans work week with AS and to time with order arrival. Keeps within designated hours. Meets order and stratification deadlines.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Contacts store management in a professional/customer-driven manner on every call.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Using Best Practices, maintains the Everyday Department by:[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Reordering stock-controlled merchandise[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Filling displays with company merchandise[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Putting orders away (if required)[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Straightening merchandise[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Sorting, removing, preparaing credit (as directed by Supervisor) of damaged and soiled merchandise [/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Pricing merchandise (if required)[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Dusting and cleaning cabinets and merchandise (when necessary)[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Using Best Practices, maintains the Seasonal Department by:[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Informing the supervisor of any shortages of seasonal merchandise[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Setting up display per chain guidelines[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Straightening and filling display[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Tearing down, inventorying and detroying carryover merchandise for return[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Being available for holiday set-up, service and take down schedules[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Completes assigned paperwork and phone work correctly and on time.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Account Service Record (SA-301)[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]In-store requirements[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Other reports required by supervisor[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Communicates fixtures issues promptly to AS[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Follows appropriate work schedule and calls on assigned accounts. Reports weekly work time as designated by Supervisor. Recharges scanner/transmits data as directed.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Communicates with supervisor regularly regarding changes or problems in the department, competitive activity in the department, or changes in store operations.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Participates in revisions and new installations as directed.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Conforms to AG policies including all safety directives. Follows Chain and store policies/procedures as they affect the merchandising of the greeting card department and in matters of store security.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]May be assigned company property or equipment to perform certain task; required to return company property upon separation of employment.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=3][/SIZE]
[SIZE=3]Repetitively lifts (up to 50 lbs), stands, stoops, carries, bends, pushes, precisely manipulates single and groups of AG product, removes cello wrap, walks, maneuvers carts, opens cartons and uses a hand-held scanner or PDA device. Retrieves and acts on communications from WHQ or management; reads directions/diagrams in English and correctly executes programs at store l[/SIZE]evel. Update 8/17/04

I have worked for them.......They pay crap and you get a whole 5 cent raise after a year of service.

American Greetings Cards: birthday, sympathy, et al. They also have (or at least had) a stuffed animal division. The job probably is going into the stores and cleaning up the displays and putting out need stuff.

wrapping paper and bows also. They also have a lot of floor displays around the holidays. You have to order and put up the supplies.

Its an okay job if you are on Social Security and can only make so much per month, that is why you usually see older women doing the job.

Im looking for people who need extra income and are looking for something to do on the side. The hours and days you work are mostly flexible (only about 4 mandatory days/year) and depending on how many stores you have, its great for people with kids or retirees who want to get out and about. Any more questions, let me know. This isnt spam.
