What does everyone this about this? Do you think it would raise property values quicker? I personally have always thought the country should improve what we have, just like one would do to their own house (usually) to maximize investment. Would love to hear the response to this. Obama orders agencies to reduce space needs - Washington Business Journal

Oh and is there a way to post this in another forum through a tag or something?

My company has been doing this same thing for a while now... It's just simple common sense. Maximizing your utilization of space / energy / resources is a huge money saver.

EDIT: Further since I missed your comment the first time... "Raising property values quicker"?! Why would that be a goal when we're in debt over our heads?!

I never said it was a goal. I don't think values need to raise anymore than they are, or should soon, anyway.

It's Obama nonsense. The savings over 3 years is less than a 1/2 day's borrowing by the federal government.

Property values will continue to sink in part because of this sort of thing.

I'm for energy efficiency if the payback is somewhat reasonable. Pelosi's conversion of the cafeteria bldg to LED lighting worked out to be somewhere around a 10yr payback...not very good IMO...

I don't see how the topic is relevant to anything. Obama has directed federal agencies to try to use less space? So what? Do you think Social Security will close their Statesville office and move everyone to Charlotte? Do you think there are many federal offices that have so much space they will be able to sublease excess space and make even the slightest noticeable dent in the federal budget? It is a big non-event... or a tiny non-event, depending on how you look at it.

Gosh, I read the topic title and I thought Obama had a plan to confiscate bank owned foreclosed homes and bulldoze them! Now, that would be an idea!

And what's with all the spoiler thingies??

the spoilers are so that I can allow off topic chat in this forum.
Even though this is a private site that everyone agreed to the TOS.
Last three years I always regretted censoring people natural talk.
We are all adults from all over the U.S. with different personalities
I have issued thousands of infractions over 3 years but I hated the
Hijacking thread one (off topic). I will not require you guys to use it
just count on me to come in later to use my southern manners
and do it for yall. This is no different than me saying Yes Ma'am,
Yes Sir and holding the door for males & females.
I want this forum to be pleasant but I also want freedom of expression
as long as the other TOS rules are followed.
Have a good relaxing summer
