You didn't know your lease expiration date?? Can you say NOT SMART.................
My old apartment complex wanted 60 days notice. This was in VA. Apparently it was against state law but they were getting you to sign "to the conditions".
It's BS, 2 month notice is ridiculous. One of the many reasons I bought my house. This is standard practice more and more these days.
Stop by your rental office, I'm sure they can and will work out a deal to keep you as a tenant. They just sent out the customary letter. When my lease expired, I stopped by to talk with them and my rent went down $110 a month. Let them know about their specials and how can they compensate you if you stay. Complexes are dying for tenants, it's in the best interest to keep you than to recruit a new tenant. Let us know how it works out?
