I live in Charlotte Nc.Moved here a year ago it is time to renew my lease however i just got only today 6/21/2010 the letter of options for renewal of lease. 1st potion 12-18 month $769, 6-11 month $825, or month to month of $925. This complex was giving away 1 bdrm apts for $599 now i have 9 days to resign a lease of one of the following stupid............... rates but if i choose to move i need to give a 60day notice ????? but i wasn't given a 30 or 60 day notice before such high increase..can you say SCAM.................

If you read your original lease, reference to the rate increase is probably in there.

"Specials" are usually temporary.

You didn't know your lease expiration date?? Can you say NOT SMART.................

My old apartment complex wanted 60 days notice. This was in VA. Apparently it was against state law but they were getting you to sign "to the conditions".

It's BS, 2 month notice is ridiculous. One of the many reasons I bought my house. This is standard practice more and more these days.

Stop by your rental office, I'm sure they can and will work out a deal to keep you as a tenant. They just sent out the customary letter. When my lease expired, I stopped by to talk with them and my rent went down $110 a month. Let them know about their specials and how can they compensate you if you stay. Complexes are dying for tenants, it's in the best interest to keep you than to recruit a new tenant. Let us know how it works out?
