Youth Athletics - (Charlotte, Matthews, Weddington: chapel, wedding, YMCA)

Looking into youth athletics for South Charlotte and Waxhaw and surrounding areas. Not quite sure where we are going to move, but I was wondering are there any basketball leagues (son plays for the Boys and Girls Club here in Newport Beach, CA). How about Pop Warner or Junior All American Football? Any track related events - his current school has an excellent track program. He is 9 by the way. Thanks!

The Wesley Chapel/Weddington Athletic Associstion has a good program, as does the Matthews Area Recreation Association. Both are located very close to Waxhaw. The YMCA programs are also pretty popular. The Siskey Y is in Matthews, and the Morrison Y is in Ballantyne, not too far from Waxhaw. Here are links:

Yes I Can Basketball runs a year round youth basketball program in Charlotte - it's the best in the area in my opinion. My wife and I love the positive energy and the teaching is top notch. My children play through wcwaa as well -- Pop Warner is there. Check out their website (previous poster had link) They also have soccer, lacrosse, baseball, cheerleading. We have been very happy with it.
