Well, I see you are located in Fort Mill, SC...by chance are you speaking of the Fort Mill YMCA outdoor pool/water park located within Baxter Village? It contains a wading pool/with sprinklers, slides, etc. for the younger crowd - also a pool for swimming (if there's enough room ) - or another pool area with 3 large water slides (not to the scale of Carowinds of course...but nice size).

ft mill-branch (http://www.upymca.org/branches/ftmill/ftmill-branch.html - broken link)

The only other thing I can think of (other than what you, and the others have already stated) is the water park that will built in Concord (but that is not set to open until 2009, and it will be indoors)?

Concord Water Park - Great Wolf Lodge

Wow, the Great Wolf Lodge Indoor Water Park in Concord looks great.

Do you know, if you can just visit the water park there or if you have to stay at the hotel in order to enjoy the water park?

Default From their website (Virginia location)

Our water parks are designed for the exclusive use of our guests and their families. That means a better-quality experience as lines are shorter (usually non-existent) and gives our parents more peace-of-mind. This experience is extremely affordable as water park passes are included with every room, and our resorts are usually a short drive away. Our Thursday and Sunday night rates are often a little less expensive, and we offer outstanding value mid-week

Charlotte and the surrounding areas have some beautiful lakes and rivers, but thanks to Duke and poor planning by local government there is virtually no public access to any of it. You need to either own property on the water or a boat. It's a very, very sad situation.

We saw a small sprayground at Birkdale yesterday, right near the movie theater. There must have been 25 kids playing in it...
