I've seen this neighborhood - Weddington Chase - a lot on Realtor.com. Does anyone have any opinions about it? What about the elementary school it's zoned for - Sandy Ridge? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

It is a John Wieland neighborhood -- I think he builds a very nice home, and I think the subdivision is VERY nice with great amenities. There are a lot of homes for sale in this neighborhood -- from what I hear (please know that this is anectodal information and by no means a statistical survey!) there are a some divorces and relocations. Also, that price point means a lot of competition from new construction. IMO, however, this neighborhood is definitely worth a look.

For school info, check NC School Report Cards

Best of luck

Weddington Chase is very nice. The streets are appealing, because they are very wide, there are lots of trees, and the amenities are nice too. I live in the neighborhood next to it. I agree that there are a lot of homes for sale in there. I have been watching the prices over the last 6 months or so, and they have dropped significantly. There are a lot of kids in that neighborhood if that is important to you. I am not sure about the elemenary school, but I am pretty sure they are zoned for the new Marvin Ridge Middle & High Schools. The cutoff for the school boundaries was between their neighborhood and mine. Our neighborhood is staying in the Weddington schools (at least for now).

How is the area around the development? I mean shopping wise. We are going to look at Brookhaven (the same developer and homes) and if their is a lot of homes for sale at Weddington Chase. We might be able to get a better deal for a similar house.

Our friend who has lived in Charlotte for 12 years and works for a custom home builder there said that John Weiland homes are very well built and when we visited we looked at Brookhaven. The model was gorgeous. I always look online at realtor.com for brookhaven, and Weddington Chase. If we moved to N.C. I would try for one of those. We have friends who also moved to Brookhaven and absolutely love it! They have been there about a year and a half and have no complaints!

Weddington Chase is just off of Providence Road (near New Town Road). I think you really need to come down for a look. I would prefer Weddington Chase for many reasons.

We are coming down 2 weeks from today. Any particular reason you prefer Weddington Chase?

Just a "heads-up"....Providence Road (16) can be an absolute mess during rush hour....in fact, it's usually always a mess going north into Charlotte (anytime of day). Or am I just on that road at the wrong time of the day???
