Charlotte-based snack maker Lance will merge with Pennsylvania-based pretzel maker Snyder's of Hanover.
The new company, which will be called Snyder's-Lance, will be based in Charlotte.
The partners say the merger will
give them more clout and better distribution.

Actually, Sunny, Snyder's is one of the big potato chip companies. The pretzels are sold here, but not the chips. Snyders, Herr's & Utz are the big 3 in the MidAtlantic, all coming out of PA Dutch country.
Lance is popular in the Philadelphia area, but Snyder's is number 2 to Herr's. Utz is the most popular in the Baltimore area.
Yes, BUT, will having a "Snyder in your slacks" be as much fun as a "Lance in your pants"???
Is that a Lance in your pants or are you just happy to see me?
Snyder's pretzels are the best but don't really care for their chips ever since they stopped selling Thundercrunch chips. Although TC might have been made by Snyder's of Berlin. I always got confused about which company sold them.

I don't remember ever seeing Thundercrunch chips, so it might have been the other Snyder's.
the orange LANCE "toastchee" crackers (aka "square nabs") put all other orange crackers to shame. They are SO much tastier....
I recommend all transplants try them with a cold Coca-Cola.
After I expressed how much I like their crackers on their website, I received about $20 worth of coupons in the mail, totally unexpectedly. They are a great company...

please support the Lance company, they are struggling as are a lot of other companies trying to survive in these bad economic times. Things are tough all over. Of course there is a Frito Lay plant in Charlotte as well but I prefer Lance. But, you know, I dont always see them in the convience stores as much as I do other brands.
