In a neverending effort to keep my wife happy, she has a question that I would like to pose to the Forum. Here it goes...
Where does a woman find cute, attractive, petite clothes in Charlotte without paying a fortune. As she shops in the Dept Stores (Kohls, Dillards, Macy's etc...) she finds that everything petite is "Old lady looking" or "Overly Southern" (Read: Holstein patterns, watermelons, flamingo patterns). What do you think?
Not sure what style or taste your wife is looking for. My sister-in-law is teeny-tiny and she always finds cute things at Chicos...Chico's - Store Locator (broken link)
I considered suggesting Stein Mart, but it might fall under the "too many watermelons and flamingo patterns." Stein Mart - Ladies (http://www.steinmart.com/website.nsf/webpages/Ladies - broken link)
I'm petite, too, (5' 2"), 32 yrs old, and I have the same trouble. Here's where I look for professional wear and usually have luck:
Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic, White House | Black Market, and Victoria's Secret online (they don't sell their clothes in stores).
All of the above stores sell petite - WHBM has petite sizes online, Banana now has a petite section in most of their stores, and VS has 30" inseam pants on their site, which is a great length for me at my height. You can find all these stores at Southpark Mall.
For casual clothes, Gap has some petites, too (mostly online). In their stores they sell pants in 'ankle' length, and that is petite.
To hit the sales, shop during the week - the stores like to remove sales for the weekend shoppers.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

Reason: more info.
She could try Forever 21. I see all ages of women in there. Some of it might be a bit younger looking, but I am sure she could find some nice stuff if she really looked.
If she is looking for more of an independent place, try Lotus. There's one on East Boulevard and on Central Avenue in Charlotte and in Birkdale Village in Huntersville. She could also try Civilian in Phillips Place off Fairview Road which is owned by the same person as Lotus.
