My sister is white and her husband is from India. I was wondering about the diversity of Charlotte and the areas around Charlotte, like the outlying towns. I know there is racism everywhere, no one can escape that, but are the people inviting and accepting for the most part? Please let me know, I am a bit nervous for them, since they don't know anyone in NC and they are an inter-racial couple.
I am in an interracial relationship and have not gotten any negative responses anywhere that I have been. I live outside of Charlotte. Tell them to come on down.
As others have said, this is a very diverse city. I was at a park the other day and heard 5 different languages simultaneously while at the playground. That's part of the reason I really like it here.
There seems to be an increasing Indian population in some of the areas of South Charlotte.
Indians have proven to be an asset to this area. People around here are judged by their actions and nothing else. That is a good thing. Since Charlotte is a city made up of mostly people from other places, it can't be stereotyped in any way other than it is international.

This same question about interracial couples gets asked a lot on this forum and I was wondering if Charlotte has some bad reputation out there or something?
Secondly, why do people care so much about whether "random people" accept who they marry or not?
