I live in Southeast Charlotte near 485/Albemarle. I'm looking for a good educational program to get my almost 5 yr old daughter in. She misses the new cut off by 10 days so she was not able to get into Kindergarten this year. I applied for pre-K with CMS but was told flat out she is not eligible. We weren't even classified as eligible but on a wait list. She was in a daycare in Wilson until she was 3 months shy of 4, and apparently, from what I understand is taught in Kindergarten these days, she was already on a Kindergarten level then. I was told she didn't qualify for the Bright Beginnings because there wasn't an academic need. So I want to get her into a good educational program. I looked into Tutor Time in Mint Hill. I really liked the new facility and the LifeSmart carriculum. I liked that they had a "village" for indoor play and a computer lab for the 4/5 yr olds. I asked if they gave a military discount (Kindercare does so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask) and was told they didn't know because no one had ever asked before and once they asked the owner they would get back to me. It's been four days and they hadn't gotten back to me. I'm still leaning towards them, but I wondered if anyone knew of another facility in this area that is comparable. TIA.
Did you look down the street form there to Sunshine House. It is on the left if you head South of Tutor time. Less than half a mile. I am assuming that you are referring to Tutor time in Mint Hill.
Programs and curriculums are great, but it all depends on who your child's teacher will be. Where ever you end up, just make sure you get to know the teacher. I've worked at a few of the big chain childcare places and one common theme I've noticed is they all hire just about anybody.
Our daughter went to sunshine house till she started school. It was great at first, then they changed directors. It's still probably one of the better ones in that area though. There is also one (can't remember the name) down in Stephens Mills behind Harris Teeter I would check out.
