Don't get too excited, this survey just points out ONE NEIGHBORHOOD in Charlotte, not the entire city. Maybe some of our posters who live in that area can tell us first hand if they feel unsafe.

Survey officials did not respond to a request for an interview.
So they send an email that gloats about how accurate the software is? Give me a break. Sounds like useless fear mongering to me.

These things are mostly a joke meant to sell the product. I remember back in 2000, there was some survey that came out saying UNC Charlotte had the second-highest number of laptop thefts in the country, so students should really buy these laptop protection things. Turns out there were like 2 laptop thefts on campus the entire year. I don't put much stock in it.

On the news tonight, the neighborhood blew this study out the window. Crime is actually decreasing in this neighborhood.

That area is not that bad. The only places to keep an eye are beneath the 277 overpass , and the ensuing 10 blocks north. Even then , it's not the Phnom Penh some would lead you to believe. Albeit , at sunrise during summer , before the haze rises(if it ever does) , it resembles an early morning shot of the jungle.
