Nothing has been determined for sure, yet. But if the stepmom is responsible for Zahra's death, then put a bullet in her head and dump her in a landfill. She certainly wouldn't deserve anything more than that.
In any event, the little girl has led a rough life. It's unfortunate that anyone should have to endure what she has.
Oh God, this story just keeps getting worse...now there's a wood chipper involved and the police dogs alerting to the presence of human remains in BOTH parents cars - ugh
Has anyone seen the correct address for where this couple lives? It only says 21st Ave in all the reports I have read, and anyone who is familiar with Hickory knows - there are four 21st Avenues - NW, NE, SW, SE . . . I would like to know what area of the town they lived in and how difficult it would have been to "hide" the disappearance of a child f/ neighbors (i.e., no one close by, wooded areas, creek nearby, etc).
I do not think this story is going to have a happy ending. Very upsetting to think a child who had already endured cancer and loss of her hearing and her leg was also abused at home - and may have been killed by folks who should have cherished her.

This is really bad. The police use variously trained dogs. If these dogs have picked up the scent of human remains & they have reclassified this as a murder investigation, those dogs were what Philly PD calls cadaver dogs.
This whole story makes me sick - including the relatives who went on national tv saying "we knew something like this would happen" and then giving detailed descriptions of abuse of that child.
Do not stand by, people. Children cannot save themselves.
Did anyone see the story on Good Morning America where the father gave an interview? They were asking about the stepmother and if the father believed the stepmother could have done this. His initial response was "I wouldn't like to think so, but after what I've heard, it's possible". But then George asked him about the fire alarm that went off at 5:30am and he indicated that even after hearing a fire alarm at 5:30 in the morning, he did NOT go check on his daughter. I'm sorry...but checking on my child would have been the FIRST thing I would have done at the sound of a fire alarm. Especially a hearing impaired child that might not have heard the alarm herself. But at the end he gave what I felt was such a fake, forced show of emotion...it was almost comical.I called my husband right then and told him that that father knew way more than he was saying. I just don't understand why he wasn't arrested as well.
I think these relatives and neighbors who new this poor girl was getting the S--t beaten out of her should be brought up on charges also. They at least new that a crime was or had taken place and did not report it.
The latest newspaper reports indicate that family members did say that they had reported the situation to DSS...
