I live in Waxhaw and will begin working in the fall. This is the first time I have ever had to "commute" in my life, as I have always worked within 15 minutes of my home. I am interested in finding out how many miles/day & the amount of minutes/day most people spend commuting. Perhaps you can answer like this:

Waxhaw to Uptown
50 miles round trip
90 minutes per day round trip

Also when are the "rush hours"? In other words, is there a better time to leave in the morning and the afternoon to beat some of the rush?

Indian Trail to the University area
50 miles round trip
70 minutes round trip

I normally leave my house before 6:45am (before Old Monroe Rd. to I-485 gets too backed up) and leave work at 4:30pm, so I miss most of the rush hour traffic both ways.

sorry folks it looks like it might be getting even worse...I have a friend in Monroe...always wanted a big house in a countryside and she got it....it is a shame that I haven't visited her in a while, myself living 10 minutes to uptown...I'm just scared of that traffic...an hour one-way...my oh my...

My DH drives 27 miles each way. He makes it from Marvin to Uptown in about 45 min.

I'm on the other side of Charlotte in Cornelius.

If I leave at 7:00am, I get to Cotswold area at 7:30am
If I leave at 7:30am, I get there about 8:30am.
If I leave at 8:00am, I get there about 8:45am.
If I leave at 8:30am, I get there at 9:00am.

50 miles round trip. Some people hate the commuting time in Charlotte. While I don't love it myself, I use the time to wind down from work. Just don't stress yourself out. It's just a frame of mind thing.

The best time to hit 77 is after 8:30 for me.

Anytime between 7-8 it seems to be the worst.

Definitely.

My commute time is about 25-40 minutes depending on when I leave from Fort Mill, SC to exit 5 from 77 (though if it's rush hour I get off at exit 2). I think it's like 15-20 miles total door to door. I need to check.

Does CATS have an express bus from Waxhaw?

Mooresville to Charlotte...about 30 miles.
As quick as 40 minutes...as long as 2 hours.

Ballantyne Cms Pkwy and Lancaster to uptown:
- 6:45 to 7am, it's 40 to 45 min to upton, 15 min to park at the $3 lot and make it to my production module

Out from town:
- 4:30 it's 1hr 15min back home

kinda sucks....if you live south and want to shave any appreciable time off the commute, housing costs go up quick and you end up looking at an old cottage/dump of a house for $350k.....

45mins to 60 min each way per day. It seems to get longer each day.
