I've been to the ER at CMC University three times since I moved here. Each time I was seen immediately. Perhaps that is because I was 1) in extreme pain or 2) having a baby.
You must've just been lucky. I tried the whole baby bit too in an attempt to get a fast track straight to the doctor and it failed both times.
I really don't think it's fair that fat male patients get disqualified even before the doctor has a chance to examine them.
It is a handy tool to review. We had a similar website available showing wait times up in Bethlehem, PA. They actually are fairly accurate depending on how they have the staff scanning in as they see patients so if you do have the option and can do so safely, it is a good idea to check before going in.
I think its a terrible idea. People look at these times, and expect that when they arrive that they'll be seen in the amount of time they saw on the website- and become irate when they arent. Additionally, if you have time to look and see where the wait time is shortest, you dont have an emergency- that's what urgent cares and family doctors are for.

Agree!
in between them checking site and getting there there could have been a major incident.
On the other hand if they see the wait time is long and it 's not an emergency then they might not bother coming
I still think it is a good idea. If you have two hospitals nearby you can choose the one that has the lower estimated wait. Obviously, the wait time could change on your way in but I like having the option of looking.
Naturally, if your guts are hanging outside your body you aren't going to take the time to look of course.
Read the fine print, the hospital that i work at will tell you on line how long the wait is until you see a triage nurse, and then you wait the 4 hours.
...correct. Trust me, if you have a true "life or limb" threatening medical problem, you will not wait.... and I do mean that in the true definition of "life or limb".
