Perfect. This definitely makes your expectations clear. What is safe to one person is not to another. Given you are flying solo and do not have children you probably do have a better tolerance for some crime vs a family who might want little to no crime. Understanding this now I do believe you are on the right track. I know there is a crime locator link in a previous thread. I will try to find it and then you can do a search for crime around homes you are considering.

Thank you. Reason I chose N. Charlotte is because even though it does have it's crime. (not any more than i'm use to), from my research it is the most affordable hile to some degree still being safe. From what I researched so far avoid the westside of charlotte because the crime is very high. Avoid the east of charlotte because crime is still pretty high. Southern Charlotte has alot of Mcmansions and more costly to those who can afford it and the North has 'some' crime yet not bad imo. Hope this helps.

Ok well here you go... this link will allow you to put in an address and then choose a radius and date range. I did your 2703 Fairstone Avenue with a .5 mile area and starting on 4/1/2010 I will be honest. That info is NOT in my comfort zone with or without a child. But you take a look and see if it is within what you were expecting.

My advice is for you to go over to the houses you have found listed. I would do it on a friday night around 10 pm or a little later. Then you need to park your car and get out and take a little walk...Walk maybe 3 or four blocks in different directions and I think you will quickly learn if you like the neighborhood. Be sure and speak to others you meet and say hello. I suggest wearing a good pair of running shoes also. WELCOME TO CHARLOTTE

Are you kidding me lol. I just looked at it and I am fine with those numbers. Maby I should tell you that I grew up in the ghetto and I am only looking for 'less' crime! This by far does the trick. Any suggestions on any of the 'better' neighborhoods on the north side of Charlotte? This little tool you showed me though helps out ALOT i must say, thanks a million!

Don't forget that if you are considering this your starter home, you will want to sell you home in the future. Buying a home in a crime infested area is not a good selling point.

I'm curious what part of Columbus you live in, since you are used to crime. Crime here is a little different, so give me some insight to where you are coming from. I'm from Columbus, so I'm familiar w/the entire city.

Try Faires Farms. It is almost walking distance from UNCC. Also the true petty crimes far outweighs the scary stuff compared to the stats you just saw. The neighborhood is located near Old Concord and McLean.

Holy cow - this is considered safer than that first one listed? I almost choked when I saw the crime listing.

as a matter of fact, now that i am looking at this crime tool. Even the westside of Charlotte is not looking bad. Some even better than the one gkleoni1 looked at for me. Omg. Why does Charlotte seem to have such a high assualt rate for example but looking at these #'s I feel okay in general just about anywhere near the city I guess. Just need to avoid the really bad areas and need to know some good neighborhoods to consider..
