Hi folks. New around here, but can see this is a great place to get information. We're disgruntled in NJ and I'm entertaining a job opportunity in Charlotte. If it were to materialize, we'd be looking to live north of Charlotte most likely.

As a veteran of the Jersey commute (90-100 min to go 65 miles), I'm curious as to what commuting is like there. Also, what's it like to work in the Charlotte area?

Any feedback would be great. Thanks
Darryl

Yep about 45 mins is about average. Once 485 finished up should be a little quicker.

I have never personaly worked in Charlotte but my in-laws do and they seem to just love it.

Need anymore help let me know and good luck,

Well you will hear newcomers say the traffic here is uncomparable to up north. But keep in mind if you live north of Charlotte you will pretty much have to commute down I-77. Everyone does. I-77 is a 2 lane interstate though. Its bumper to bumper in the mornings and afternoons. There is no other option but to drive your car to work really. We dont have any "mass transit".

Oh ok than I could shoot down that Huntersville/Concord road and then pick up the 77 and avoid the traffic on exit 25. I'm only about32 miles from that road.

Nice try. The back roads arent much better. Believe me, people have been trying to find ways around all the traffic for years. No place is safe anymore. Just get up early and go for it!
