We will be relocating and are looking at Fort Mill, SC, and the following areas Ballantyne, Weddington, Marvin, Waxhaw.

We have school age children and are interested in a nice neighborhood with a single family home and a nice size yard, low crime, great school systems and low taxes.

Any information/recommendations would be helpful.

The schools zoned for Baxter (community in Fort Mill) for instance are all Excellent schools (elementary, middle, high). Excellent is equivalent to an A school somewhere else. If they are into music, Fort Mill High School band goes to the state championship about every year and has won a ton of them.

To OP,
You will find nice neighborhood in both areas. Taxes will be cheaper in Fort Mill due to being on the South Carolina side. South Carolina taxes and gas is much cheaper. When we did our search, we considered both areas. We ended up in Fort Mill due to how close everything was to us. I-77 is right next to us for a easy short communite to uptown (downtown charlotte). My fiance found the drive from union county to be a grind when she test drove it prior to us making a decision. We have 6 grocery chains (soon to be 8 if and when Publix comes in) within a 5 minute drive of our house.
