I have been searching the forums for information on the areas between (and around) the University area and Uptown Charlotte.

We currently lease in Huntersville (North Stone), but really want to move into the city. Our move-in date is July 15th. My husband is negotiating a job in the University area now. My oldest daughter will be attending North West School of the Arts and my son will be attending UNCC in the Fall. Our two youngest children will be entering kindergarten and first grade.

For the first time in my life (and I have owned 3 homes and rented 2) I am not allowing schools to dictate where we live! I guess I don't have to since leasing is not an investment like owning is. If we are in a district with a deplorable school (and I highly doubt that) I don't mind homeschooling them until they get through the lottery system and can attend a magnet school.

I just started looking at home rentals and there seems to be many options for us. Apparently, lots of folks are renting their homes these days. I saw a really nice ad for a place on Dunhill Dr in Plaza Midwood. 4 bdrm, 2 story. It was recently renovated and beautiful. I'm sure it won't be available by July 15th but, who knows. I also saw a few really nice homes in the University area (North of Tryon and west of 85) near all those restaurants and corporate parks. I'm pretty unfamiliar with that area of town but it seems nice.

Here are some details:
We are a big family with one dog and one cat. We would need at least 2500 square feet of space. 4+ bedrooms. A fenced yard would be great.
We are looking to spend up to $1900/month. We could go farther but would like the extra money to go towards utilities.

I'm an at home mom but also a working artist so being close to the art scene is important to me but it's not the highest on the list :-)

Thanks in advance - K

There is a very nice, fully renovated home in Wesley Heights (625 Walnut Ave, 28208) that is for rent via AllenTate. 4bd/2.5ba, $1500/month. I'd post a link, but I've had my hand slapped in the past for doing so.

There are already some kids in the neighborhood who attend North West School of the Arts, so you would still be in their bus zone.

Default Wesley Heights

Thank you!! It's not on the side of town we are looking into as it is farther from the University area where my husband will be working but it is worth looking into.

....just looked at the ad. It's too small (2225 sq feet) and no pets allowed. Thanks though :-)

I think you are a prime candidate for living in Plaza Midwood and would suggest you concentrate your search there
