We're looking at houses online and several are near "mini lakes" or ponds - not something big like Lake Norman or tiny landscape features. Generally, a circle of homes or a few streets in a neighborhood will be built along them. Not all are identified by name of the maps but Challis Lake and Glynmoor Lakes are examples. Some have names like "Pond number 6."
What are these and what's it like to live near one? Are they useable? My lab loves jumping into streams and ponds. Are they privately owned by the adjacent homeowners? Are they mosquito- or snake- infested? Does having one nearby mean you are going to have a swampy yard and flooding issues? Any feedback would be appreciated.
