It took nearly 30 years for Southpark to get the makeover it is today, so I feel pretty sure that CP will get theirs in due time, probably before 2020.
The one thing that use to bother me about CP, ohhhh 15 years ago, was when they added the Hecht's (currently Macy's) to the mall and it didn't match the color of the rest of the mall. It is still that way today although I don't care today. CP was originally built just 3 dept stores and added the Hecht's several years after it opened.
I went to CPM several weeks ago. It was actually the first weekend we hit 70 degrees in Charlotte. I had a coupon to Barnes & Noble so I figured I'd go use it. Thought it would be deserted since most people would be outside on such a nice day. I was wrong. Had a terrible time finding a parking spot near the REI/Barnes & Noble. There were tons of cars circling the lot for a spot.
CPM is not as nice as it was when it opened, but that shouldn't shock anyone, its older. Still packed everytime I go, although its a much younger crowd.
Location: Some got six month some got one solid. But me and my buddies all got lifetime here

The last time I was there I passed by this chocolate place (Godiva or something of the sort...probably Godiva). They had something like 8 dollar and 16 dollar chocolate/strawberry kebobs.
I just about had a coronary at the price. They weren't even big, only a few pieces on each.
I'd just as soon buy a box of strawberries at Harris Teeter, a couple of Hershey bars, maybe some chocolate syrup, grab a chop stick and make my own. I'd have a hell of a lot more than 8 or 16 dollars worth of their little chocolate/strawberry kebobs. Might not be Godiva chocolate but I'm not really picky, either.
But that's South Park for you. The Mall at Short Hills of the South.
I think CPM is fine. I am interested in most stores there and most of them are affordable. If I need specialty/ upscale stores like Sephora, Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel, then I will travel to South Park. However, those stores are not for frequent shopping.
The mall is 20 years old this year. I haven't been there in a while, but I don't think there has been much done to update it.
I dont find it very dated. It doesnt look 20 years old. I dont find any of that typical 90's paint/tile/deco stuff, and all the stores have updated facades. Ive been to plenty of 80's and early 90's malls that havent renovated (Signal Hill (which is much older), Rock Hill Mall and and Cleveland Mall). I love the sky lights and it really lets in the natural light. It is pretty "narrow" with all the middle vendors there.
Narrow? definitely. It's jammed up with crappy kiosks down the aisles (although Southpark is too) and the tiles and bannisters on the staircases look like something from the set of an MTV video in 1984. I'll take your word that it's 20 years old but it looks much older.
To me it's just a mall near my house, but I do wish it was an outlet mall. It takes me a bit to get to Concord Mill . . .
Do folks really consider Concord Mills an outlet mall? They have a great many single-label clothing stores like an outlet center, but I didn't notice too many outlet center prices in them.
Pottery Barn... Nope. Find it overpriced.
Jewelry stores... most of SP stores are overpriced.
Apple... everyone and their mother sells Apple now. Who wants to fight that crowd... not this guy ^
Sephora... I am a dude. Nope.
Godiva... not enough to care.
The point was... one is your typical mall aimed at middle class and the other is a rich mall aimed at upper class.[/quote]
Actually, The apple store in SP is amazing! It might look crazy, but it's really not. Their customer service is out of this world. Love the Apple Store in SP. among many more.
Yes the people are real ghetto in that mall at times.
