Hi I am looking to rent for one year before buying a house. My husband works in Monroe and is willing to commute up to an hour. I have two kids so schools are very important. Thank you.

Look to live in Matthews. There are not a lot of great apts in Monroe or Union County and Matthews is not a bad commute for him.

I'm trying to stay under $1000 a month for a three bedroom.

That's doable for some apts, just not houses

One of the complexes I really like is called Providence Court - their 3 bedroom is $1000 but the school assignments make it worth it.

You can also look at nearby Colonial Grand Beverly Creast, Colonial Village at Matthews and Bexley at Matthews.
