Hey there, I'm wondering if there are any good camp sites for tent camping about 2 hours or less away from Charlotte? I'm looking for a place that doesn't fringe on alcohol or if no alcohol is allowed... how strict are they. I'm not looking to party, but more along the lines of sitting around the fire and not being hassled if you have a beer in your hand. Thanks!
Wildlife Woods on Rte 150 near Denver on Lake Norman. The tent sites are right on the lake. Nothing fancy or real nice. It's clean and safe , you can drink
and close to home.
We've never had a problem having a beer or plastic cup of wine at Cane Creek in Waxhaw. It's a nice park, very close by. The only problem is it tends to fill up every spring and fall weekend. So if you have a couple of beers or wine and stay up a little late, you will be awakened VERY early by people going to the restrooms or dogs barking loudly.

We have never camped anywhere in NC where you couldn't have alcohol around the campfire as long as you were discrete and didn't start whooping and hollaring
You should try one of my favorites spots in Chimey Rock - love this place. Get a site along the river for the most enjoyment
I only ask this because I went camping somewhere and it ended up being a dry county and a local sheriff/wild life cop stop by and saw we were having a beer and gave us a ticket and dump all the beer
Huntington State Park and Hunting Island State Park. I always forget which is where so you'll have to google. Camp right on the beach. Believe me, if the people we camp with weren't able to have a few drinks, they wouldn't go camping. Like Loves said, don't be obnoxious and you should be fine.

Hunting Island is one of my favorite WINTER time camping spots
It gets way too overcrowded in the summer for my tastes!
Brown Mtn. up above Morganton. No charge. No hassles.
