We are looking into Day Care's for our newborn and I have some basic questions. I know about the Child Care Resources but I have to wait till Monday to give them a call.
Ok, so we live in the University Area, close to Harrisburg. Does anyone have any first hand experience with any of the day cares up in this area? If so, do you love it and what are the costs?
I was reading some older posts and saw that places don't offer part time spots for infants. Have you guys found this as well?
Thanks for any info, advice and resources you can send my way!
Day care centers don't offer part time for infants. They are only allowed a certain number of infants per room, so to maximize profits (which is what is most important to them), they only allow full time.
Because of the limited amount of space, most centers have waiting lists for infants. The good ones can have a pretty long wait - up to a year sometimes. For good care you'll probably be paying between $1000-$1500 per month.
Make sure you personally visit and take a tour of EACH center you are considering. Meet your child's potential caregivers and ask questions. Observe how the staff are interacting with the children and with each other, and look up health scores and star rating info for the center. Make sure the center you choose allows you to visit at ANY time once your child is enrolled.
