Are there any parks in the Dallas/Lincolton corridor with walking trails or just big open areas to picnic or walk dogs (on leashes)? Not talking about ballfields, just outdoor recreation areas. What about lakes or public riverside areas? I know Kings Mtn Park is down I-85, was looking for something closer. Tks.

Are you aware of the Gateway Trail in Kings Mountain? There is a picnic area & a couple of small lakes are involved. It's currently small but the next leg will open later this year. Dogs on leashes are allowed. Eventually, it will connect to a trail that leads from Crowders Mountain to the SC parks.

In Lincolnton you have the Rail Trail. Its a walkway in downtown where the tracks of Norfolk Southern use to be.
Marcia H. Cloninger Rail-Trail | North Carolina Trails | TrailLink.com

From the old railroad depot at Pine and North Poplar streets, two blocks north of Main, the trail meanders through town, briefly sharing its corridor with an active railroad line.
