Looking for a somewhat decent breakdown of the different neighborhoods for the Charlotte area.

What neighborhoods are good for families? Such as great schools, low crime, reasonable traffic, close amenities (groceries, malls, shopping, restaurants) etc..

Also, are there any walkable neighborhoods besides uptown?

We chose to move North of Charlotte in the Huntersville Cornelius area. Birkdale Village is walkable, side walks, nice streets. It has a shopping area attached with Barnes and Noble and Movie Theater. Most of the neighborhoods in this area are walkable with sidewalks, parks and community pool. The schools are new and seem to rated fairly good. We have kids in Elem., Middle and High school so we had to consider all of them.
