I have accepted a position and relocating to South Charlotte, Ballantyne area. I have a son, 10 years old. I plan to rent an apartment on Ballantyne area or a condo for my first year. I am Asian and 43. . Does anyone know someone that want to babysit or picking up kid after-school? Please let me know. . Are there any single parent in the same situation where we can meet up and have the kids to hang out and for us socializing? play tennis, drinks, coffee. whatever?

Congrats on the new job. You are moving to a nice area.
You'll probably have more luck finding someone to help you by placing an ad on Craig's List rather than here.
In addition, consider checking the YMCA programs. Many of them pick kids up from school and keep them involved in some activities until 6:00 p.m.
And finally, most schools have afterschool programs, so you may want to consider that option. Teachers give homework help, a snack and then let kids play outside until parents pick them up.

I see no one has answered your query with some direction on groups or websites to contact. I hope someone who has some suggestions will see your post and help.
In the meantime, I would suggest you contact the YMCA in Ballantyne and see if they have suggestions for resources to contact to help you set up a support system for your son.
Good luck on your move!

But you thought about after-school . . . wh/ was a great suggestion. What is that website that folks use - something mommies? I am sure they would be happy to add a dad to their members - unioncountymommies - yeah, here it is:
UnionCountyMommies.com -- A Mommies Network Community
Do you know if there is anything like that for Ballantyne specifically? Or does that also include Ballantyne b/c of proximity?

Once you've figured out what school your child will go to, you can sign up for After School. It was $55 a week a few years ago when we used it. I liked it better than the y because I never had to worry about who was driving my child to the Y location. it was nice to have her come home with homework done, a snack and chance to play with kids from her school.

Like most Asians, would you prefer an Asian babysitter?
If so, I'd suggest hooking up with the particular Asian community/organization/chapter in Charlotte, NC and you'll find all the info you're looking for.

No. I have no preference. Just some good people or older adults. I grew up in the Mid-West for 35 years. I am well adjusted. Does anyone have any suggestion to meet up with other single parent? Thanks in advance.

Go to a children's park/play area with your kid and strike up a convo. Craigslist.
