I have a few questions. I'm getting out of the Army and possibly will be starting a job in the Quail Hollow area. I have a wife a 3 year old and 9 year old. Looking for a place to live in an area with a good school district. Looking to spend 1000/a month for a 3 br house to rent for the first year before we look to buy. Any suggestions of where to live or even more so where not to live? My wife is mexican and is concerned about getting certain foods to cook with. Is there a mexican neighborhood in Charlotte that would have markets she can shop at? Also she's hoping that most grocery stores have fresh Jalapenos and Cilantro. I'm looking forward to moving to Charlotte, but i've never been there. Looking forward to the sports there and can't wait to start watching some Carolina Panthers games! Thank you for any help.

I don't know about a Mexican neighborhood but there are plenty of markets that should have want you want.

Some other ones: //www.city-data.com/forum/charl...permarket.html

She will have plenty of markets to shop at, and any quality grocery store will carry jalepenos and cilantro.

My wife grows her own Banana Peppers and Jalapeno's. If you can't find fresh, not sure why you wouldn't, she can always try to grow her own.

Charlotte has a chain of grocery stores that cater to the Hispanic market but everyone is welcome. I highly recommend that everyone check out Compare grocery stores.

I see jalepenos and cilantro in all the supermarkets, but nothing can compare to homegrown. Both plants are extremely easy to grow, and the taste is unbelievable compared to store bought. We made pizza last night with just olive oil, fresh mozzarella and thinly sliced jalepenos from my garden. It was insane!

Welcome to Charlotte!

She will have no problem finding lots of options for shopping. But do yourself a big favor and make sure that wherever you wind up living won't involve sending your older child to Quail Hollow Middle at any point. Be sure, if you live near the area, that you're zoned for Carmel or South Charlotte Middle Schools.
