I 85 will be closed north of Salisbury, Spencer to be precise from exit 75 to exit 85. Closure will be from midnight to 6am on 27th and closures will happen at this time frame til August 1st if DOT needs additional closure.

Probably best then to take I-77 to I-40 and skip this all together. It will take hours for it to clear up even when it re-opens.

That stretch of I-85 is a nightmare on the best of days. It's more like a narrow 4-lane highway than an interstate. I have no idea how it was allowed to exist like that for 40 years as it's clearly not up to required interstate standards - the designation should never have been given.

So many accidents on that bridge is probably what prompted this rebuilding of that area of the interstate.
