I love the size of the city. Also the airport, great that you can get most places in a direct flight, it is easy to get around, ok food choices and security is not usually too bad.

I like that the city looks and feels new and beautiful. Most parts of the city look elegant, with newer areas of South Charlotte even more so. I have relocated from northeast (NY,PA) and hence that struck me. Cities in north east have history of old steel mills etc, and now the remains of those mills make those cities look dirty.

I prefer the semi-urban nature of Charlotte. Sure, it's not as walkable and amenity-friendly compared to urban oasis such as New York or Philly, but it's easier to manever (via car) and a much less hectic pace. In that respect, the south will always be different and don't consider it to be a negative, just different. Will I be able to say the same thing in 20-30 years without controlled growth, continued/significant investments in mass transit and infrastructure upgrades? Not sure.

Seasons - 4 of them, unlike the city of Chicago (which is one of my favorites cities) a city with two (2) seasons - winter and the 4th of July (credit to the late Lewis Grizzard, columnist for the ATL Journal/Con who spent a year writing for a Chicago paper)

Considering that I'm one of them, I like the fact that Charlotte has so many transplants. I know that there seems to be a contingent on this site that thinks poorly of the transplants, but I like the fact that Charlotte is a place where everyone seems to be "from" somewhere else. Eventually I hope that we transplants start spicing the city up a bit.
