We recently moved to the Charlotte area from and are looking to buy a home in the South Charlotte area. I really love Ballantyne CC and Piper Glen CC but do not want to pay the high taxes in Mecklenburg County. I have found a beautiful home in Firethorne CC that suits all of our needs (great schooling, close to work, family community, on the golf course, etc.) however I am a little concerned due to the past financial problems at Firethorne. Does anyone have any input on their current financial standings?

Club is now owned by the lender. They are making improvements and managing the member capital and financial side of things. The lender is a golf course development bank and they own and operate many large, nice upscale clubs around the U.S.

The issue in the past was management and ownership. The membership has always been strong. As a matter of fact they tried to raise enough capital to purchase the club themselves.

You will be fine. I know several people in Firethorne and they love it. GCDB will not let it fail. There is to much invested and to many others that would come in and take over.
