Yesterday was a very fun day in Uptown Charlotte at the 2011 Charlotte Pride Festival. We stayed for six hours, longest we ever been at a festival.
There was huge crowd and lots of entertaiment. Jessica Wild and Adam Taylor both where awesome.
A few bible thumpers but they have their right to exercise freedom of speech.
I had no idea this was yesterday however, this would definitely explain the "ugly" sign I saw when I was uptown last night. Someone took the liberty of rearranging some lettering on a sign outside of one of the buildings and the new message was less than flattering.

I'll admit, getting into arguments with those "bible thumpers" was half the fun for me. It was nice to see that my wife and kid wasn't the only male/female family there. I think the true measure of a successful Pride Festival is the support of non-gays as well as gays. For example, whites and blacks marched together during the Civil Rights movement. The same has to happen during our current gay rights movement.
Im glad you guys came out and your right everyone there of any race, sexual preference, young or old is welcome to a Charlotte pride festival that is it purpose is promote love and equality.
I wonder if you was in that cluster of people who surrounded that thumper in white shirt. I was like this is getting good. Then you had that guy about 1/2 block up just standing reading bible.
There is nothing wrong with debate.
I missed Mayor Fox and Jennifer Roberts when they where there
