Isn't there a extended stay type hotel when you are heading south on 77 that is on the righthand side near the Tryon or Tyvola exists that has a $139/week advertised, or something along those lines that would work for the OP. Certainly someone has more insight as far as the name of the hotel, but that may be an option...

Yes there is, which is why I recommended that area upthread. I couldn't remember the name of it either.
The one at Tyvola is Extended Stay America.
There's one near I-77 and Woodlawn called In Town Suites (Pressley Road.)
To the OP, I'm not sure I'd stay at the place you mentioned in your original post. But considering your budget restrictions, I'm not sure you're going to have many options.
Something my SO did when he had to work out of town for extended periods of time was he found a motel near where he needed to work; called them, and explained he'd be there for x months working on a project. They worked with him to find a reduced rate that he could handle that was within his per diem.

HTH.
Great idea. It never hurts to ask. If I were a hotel manager/owner I'd be willing to lower a rate for a guaranteed occupant. It's cheaper for them to not have to change sheets/towels/etc., every day, as they would have to do for a one-night occupant.
thanks for the input I really appreciate it. Can't wait to get away from drug crazy Honolulu. And I wont miss the un-reasonable rental prices.
