Hi,

I live in Queens, ny and I can't deal with high cost of life and
living a rat race kind of life here;

I was thinling of Charlotte as a potential good destination
to relocate;

If you relocated to Charlotte from somwhere else in the us, how is your life
now? Are you happy? Met new friends? found a job? bought a home?

thank you ;-)

Love it here. The best decision I have ever made. I came from Cali. And never look back. Came here in search of better job and better environment for my daughter and it turned out great!

Great opportunities for youth if they are into sports, especially soccer.

Moved here from Pittsburgh a year ago this month! Best decision my husband and I ever made! Just bought a beautiful house we would have never been able to afford! The weather and people are amazing, we will never go back!

Hi from a fellow NY'er
My sis moved to charlotte from NYC three years ago, and other than missing us, you could not PAY For her to come back...she loves EVERYTHING about it. She has made many new friends, from all over the place...in fact, DH & I would already have moved if it werent for him being self employed...making it kind of tough right now

Nightlife is very good. Uptown and the NC Music Factory are very popular, but nightlife exists all over the county. You might want to look up "Creative Loafing.com".

Different perspective..moved here 4 years ago...its hot in summer, you'll miss NY, you'll miss your friends and family. The only good thing is its cheaper. Heading back in the spring...cant wait! Careful what you wish for as they say.

I'm another different perspective. I don't particularly like it here. The so-called rat race may not be the same, but people here are obsessed with wealth, status and appearance. Night life will be very different than what you are used to in NY. This is very much a corporate driven, family oriented town.

As far as your other questions - yes, I'm happy, because my location has nothing to do w/my happiness. I have a few good friends, but a lot of the people I've met here are shallow. I'm sort of self-employed and I turn down job offers almost daily. I own my home and live in one of the few areas (and was lucky enough to get in early and not overpay) where homes are still selling.

My husband and I are planning on moving to Portland, Oregon within the next couple of years. The only thing I'll miss is the weather.

I love it! There's plenty of stuff to do here, lots of nice areas. Much less stressful than New Jersey, and not boring like Arkansas! Most of family migrated here and love it too!
