I thought I would start a punkin' patch thread, lol.

Anyone know where there are pumpkin patches where folks can go pick out a pumpkin and possibly take the kids?

In the past, there have been places to go - and sometimes they would also sell apples, maybe apple cider . . .

Sometimes, I have seen farms that also included hay rides for the kids.

Anyone have any leads (and photos!) for such places? This could be a nice family outing for a Sat morning or Sun afternoon.

Here's a website, Ani. western North Carolina Pumpkin Patches, Corn Mazes, Hayrides and More, Find Halloween and Fall Fun in western North Carolina!

The Grover Pumpkin Festival looks like a winner.

Grover sits on the border, just south of Kings Mountain. When you drive south on I 85, Exit 106, with the gas stations & obligatory fireworks is the SC side of Grover. The NC side is incorporated, but the SC side is unincorporated.

TY, Whatsthenews! I notice they have hayrides - and now that I think about it - this is a farm I have visited in years past!

The older I get, seems the more I forget . . .

I hope someone will visit and post photos.

Well that isn't too far out!

Their info is wonderful - looks like they have quite the seasonal celebration there. You ought to head over and take some photos, SB!

It's not far out at all, Ani, but you know people won't drive out from Charlotte. I think that they think they'll get cooties if they come west of Charlotte.

Grover is very small & they don't do very many activities. This is the 1st year for the pumpkin festival. I'm hoping to have found some kind of job by then, but if I haven't, I'll have to try to get there.

There is one up in University... I don't have the address but I went to look at a house for sale off of WT Harris or whatever that road is called.

They had horse rides and one of those inflated trampolines.

WhatsTheNews beat me to it.

We went over there on Sunday! $7 per person for a hayride, petting zoo, a pick-your-own pumpkin (one per person) from the patch and all the apple cider you wish to drink.

Just a few pix from our trip:
