I wonder,though, if the market could read this as simply a "hospital" thus causing surrounding values to actually increase. I know proximity to hospitals in general increases property values but I don't know if there is any evidence on psychiatric hospitals.

Huntersville commissioners denied a rezoning.
Despite the support of the town planning board - which voted 8-1 to approve the rezoning - town commissioners voted 4-2 to deny the request.
