I'm originally from Pittsburgh and since we don't have a NBA team I've become a Bobcat fan. I know they aren't that good but they aren't awful either and the best basketball player of our generation is the owner.
I find it rather odd and frustrating that every time I go to a sports bar with 50 TV's in it not one is turned to a Bobcat game. How is this possible? I know the Hornets left but is it really that hard to keep 1 of the 75 TV's in a sports bar on the home team?

You didn't mention what sports bars you go to, but I am positive if you went to Kristopher's in Matthews that they would put the game on for you on one of their TVs.
For that matter, a lot of other places probably would too. Have you tried asking?

Even though they are the home team, there is not much demand to see them on TV. A lot of people would rather watch the loop on ESPN than watch the Bobcats, regardless of who they are playing. The lockout didn't help things much either.
And a lot of people are still butt hurt about the Hornets and the arena that was voted down but built anyway.

Maybe the bar doesn't have sportssouth channel. Granted I would be shocked, but they could have satellite/dish and do not get that channel. They are blacked out in many nearby markets.

I didn't say they refused to show the game... Just wondering how a city with an NBA team has sports bars that aren't automatically putting the game on at least 1 TV.
If it's Duke vs. Our Lady of Central Tech... it's on. If it's UNC vs IUPUI, it's on.
Bobcats vs. Miami... *crickets*

No, 95% of the sports bars I've been too have it all and will switch the game if I ask them too...
My question is why do I have to ask? It's a sportsbar and unless it's a Steeler Bar or it's Game 7 of a championship why wouldn't they have the home team on?

as noted above, not that many people care. I'll try and dig up the article, but they were averaging around 12,000 viewers per game. Yes that low. They have almost as many people attending as they do watching. Thats awful.
along the same lines, I am sick and tired of every steeler bar, bills bar, etc. I don't know of one place that advertises itself as a Panthers bar. With Cam they will hop on the bandwagon. end of rant

my bad, 11,000!
The league's smallest local TV audiences have been in Charlotte, where Bobcats games have been viewed by an average of 11,000 homes. Milwaukee (16,000 on FS Wisconsin), Memphis (17,000 on SportSouth) and Oklahoma City (19,000 on FS Oklahoma) also have audiences below 20,000.
