Try Asian Corner Mall at Tryon and Sugar Creek. Aside from there , there is Nikko's , PF Changs , and Cherry Blossom. The former is authentic , you can observe the entire process , from the ingredients to the plate.

Isn't Nikko's Japanese & Cherry Blossom in south Charlotte?
I'm hard-pressed to think of a great Chinese restaurant on the north side, but I suppose House of Leng wouldn't be "less than mediocre" IMO.
I could be mistaken , but I thought they had locations in University. Given how long its been since I've been to that area of town , I very well could be.
Because 90% of Chinese food is fried, you must crave an oil there are not using.
Lard, Peanut, Canola, Vegetable, Corn, etc. Or... it's the grade of meat
oh, and there is a PF Chang's in front of Northlake Mall. I wouldn't classify them as "authentic", however.
Most Americans wouldn't eat authentic Chinese food, and wouldn't know it if it hit them in the face anyway. I've spent some time in NY and San Fran's Chinatowns, and not in the touristy parts. What we get here is Americanized, and that's fine.
PF Chang's doesn't even claim to be Chinese. It's Asian Fusion.
PF Chang's is terrible. Had a family member cook @ one in town for a while. Horror stories. Entirely overpriced for bad food.
House of Taipei and House of Leng are both solid americanized Chinese. HoT is a little cheaper, but I like HoL a little better. They both probably use the same suppliers.
